GE15: Three-way Tambun pact can end Anwar's political career, says PAS leader

PETALING JAYA: An electoral pact between Umno, PAS and Bersatu for the Tambun parliamentary seat can end Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political career, says a PAS' central committee member. Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki also suggested that incumbent Tambun MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, also known as Peja, be allowed to defend his seat during the 15th General Election (GE15).

“An Umno candidate can contest in the Hulu Kinta state constituency whereas PAS can do so in the Manjoi constituency.

“This is the easiest formula to disrupt Anwar’s plans and prevent Pakatan from taking over Perak,” he said in a Facebook post Wednesday (Oct 26).

Zuhdi added that putting a full stop on Anwar’s political journey would see one-third of the never-ending political crises in Malaysia coming to an end.

“The political crisis today also comes from the conflict between Anwar and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad which stems all the way back to 1998,” he said.

On Thursday (Oct 20), Anwar, who is also the PKR president, confirmed that he will be contesting the Tambun parliamentary seat in GE15.

The Opposition leader confirmed this at the launch of the Pakatan convention held at the Ipoh Convention Centre.

On Saturday (Oct 22), Ahmad Faizal who is the Bersatu deputy president said he would be staying put in Tambun to take on Anwar.

The incumbent Tambun MP and former Perak mentri besar said he is not at all bothered that the PKR president is going there.

“I am not going anywhere and will be staying put in Tambun,” he said.
