GE15: Tony Pua announces he will not be defending Damansara

PETALING JAYA: Incumbent Damansara MP Tony Pua (pic) will not be defending his seat during GE15.

Pua officially announced this during the DAP fundraising dinner here on Wednesday (Oct 26).

"Many DAP leaders such as Anthony Loke and Gobind Singh have done their part to persuade me but this is my decision alone to step away from the electoral frontline.

"However, I still believe in change and most importantly that Malaysia can change," he said, adding that he would still be actively involved in the party's machinery.

In GE14, Pua won the Damansara parliamentary seat with 121,283 votes in a landslide win.

It was also the highest recorded majority nationwide with 106,903 votes.

The Damansara parliamentary seat was also the seat with the most number of registered voters at 146,322 after a re-delineation exercise.
