GE15: Reezal Merican ready to defend Kepala Batas seat if selected as BN candidate

BUTTERWORTH: Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican says he is ready to defend the Kepala Batas parliamentary seat if picked as candidate in the 15th General Election.

The former housing and local government minister said it would be a great opportunity for him to serve the constituency for another term as he has some unfinished business in Kepala Batas.

He, however, said it was up to the Barisan Nasional leadership to choose who is the most qualified candidate to contest in the constituency.

"As a party member, I will work hard to make sure Barisan wins Kepala Batas and who should be picked as candidate will be left to the coalition leadership,” he said when contacted.

In the last general election, Reezal defeated Pakatan Harapan candidate Dr Zaidi Zakaria and PAS' Siti Mastura Muhammad with a majority of 4,736 votes.

Reezal, who is also an Umno supreme council member, defeated Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden from PAS with a majority of 4,176 votes in GE13.
