GE15: Focus on winning, don't listen to those out to break us, Khaled tells Umno members

PETALING JAYA: Umno members should not react to a story that their president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will not be defending his Bagan Datuk parliamentary seat as there are those keen to see the party break up ahead of GE15, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

"There are people who want to see Umno break up into camps at this crucial moment.

"They will make all sorts of provocations. Umno members must just focus on winning the election. My advice is, don't react to the story," the Umno vice-president said on Friday (Oct 21).

He also said that this was the first time he was hearing of such a thing.

Mohamed Khaled was commenting on a recent news report in Sinar Harian asking if Ahmad Zahid would be defending his parliamentary seat in Bagan Datuk.

The report on Friday claimed that Ahmad Zahid may be replaced by his daughter Nurul Hidayah or an unnamed right-hand man.

This is allegedly a sacrifice made by Ahmad Zahid because of the charges he is facing in court and the support given to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to be the next prime minister.
