Semi-wooden houses damaged in blaze near Gelang Patah

GELANG PATAH: Two semi-wooden houses were damaged in a fire at Kampung Melayu Baru near here on Wednesday (Oct 19) morning.

Iskandar Puteri Fire station chief Mohd Khairi Zainuddin said 26 firemen from the Iskandar Puteri, Skudai and Larkin Fire stations were deployed to the scene at 8.24am.

He said two fire rapid tender vehicles, an emergency medical response services vehicle and a water tanker were used in the operation.

“The fire destroyed about 80% of one house before spreading to the home next door," he added in a statement.

He said the fire destroyed about 15% of the second house.

Mohd Khairi, who led the operation, said it ended at 12.15pm.

The cause and total losses sustained were still being looked into, he added.
