GE15: PAS to use own logo in northern strongholds

PETALING JAYA: PAS will opt to use its own party logo and not the Perikatan Nasional logo in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah for GE15, says Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

"(For our candidates in) other states, we will let them choose the party or Perikatan symbol," the PAS president said at a ceramah in Marang on Friday (Oct 14).

PAS had said earlier that it wanted to use its own logo as the Perikatan symbol was not well known among its supporters.

Abdul Hadi also admitted that Umno leaders had approached him, asking PAS to cooperate with Barisan Nasional.

"Many leaders approached me, from the highest to the lowest level, asking me to be with Barisan.

"I told them to let me think first.

"We are not enemies, but there is some lack of clarity.

"Due to that, we postponed (our decision) first. We want to... clear the situation," he said.

Abdul Hadi said PAS decided to work with Perikatan to fight corruption, both the givers and receivers.

"Although it will be easier if we go with Umno as we can win easier and have more supporters, we are not rushing," he said.

On Thursday (Oct 13), Abdul Hadi announced that PAS would continue its partnership with Perikatan in GE15.

To this, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the decision was not surprising, and repeated his position that Barisan will go solo in GE15.
