ALOR SETAR: A three-month old baby has died, allegedly due to abuse by his father in Kampung Teluk Jawa, Padang Hang here.
Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said Kota Setar police station received a call about the incident at about 1.50pm on Monday (Oct 10).
In a statement on Wednesday (Oct 12), he said a team from the Kedah criminal investigation department detained the father of the victim in Kampung Sungai Lintang here.
He said the suspect admitted that he had hit and slapped the victim in the head and face after he refused to drink milk.
ACP Ahmad Shukri said the body of the victim was sent to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah for a post-mortem.
He said the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and has been remanded for seven days from Oct 11 to 17.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
