Lekas Highway to shut temporarily on Saturday for RHB Lekas Highway Ride 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kajang-Seremban Highway (Lekas) will be closed temporarily to all vehicles from 5pm on Saturday (Oct 15) until 4am on Sunday (Oct 16), in conjunction with the annual night cycling race - the seventh edition of the RHB Lekas Highway Ride 2022 - involving 5,618 participants.

Lekas chief executive officer Wan Salwani Wan Yusoff said the road closure will start from Kajang Selatan Interchange to the Paroi Junction with approximately 19 other junctions being closed for the event to ensure a smooth and safe ride for participants.

She added that Lekas has identified several alternative routes during the closure to facilitate the mobility of road users on the said days.

“Once the road closure takes place, northbound and southbound road users, such as from Kuala Lumpur, Cheras, Kajang, Seremban, Senawang and Kuala Pilah are advised to use the Federal Route 1 or PLUS Highway to continue their journey,” she said in a statement Wednesday (Oct 12).

Meanwhile, she said that the event had also obtained approval from the Works Ministry and Malaysian Highway Authority to be the venue sponsor as well as Bukit Aman's Traffic Division for traffic management plan on total road closure for the event.

”In addition, Lekas also obtained approval from the Malaysian Sports Commissioner to organise this cycling event. Projected traffic loss involved during this road closure is around 40,000 highway users.

“We would like to convey our gratitude to the police for their cooperation and support by providing officers from Kajang, Mantin, Nilai and Seremban to assist in the road closure,” she said.

Lekas also extended its apologies to road users for any inconvenience caused. - Bernama
