Kuala Kedah ferry terminal hit by high tide phenomenon

ALOR SETAR: Several houses and business premises including the Kuala Kedah ferry terminal here were affected by flash floods caused by the high tide phenomenon on Wednesday (Oct 12) morning.

Kota Setar Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Capt Norlizawati Ismail said among the areas affected were Kuala Kedah Ferry Terminal, Taman Seri Putra, Pasar Nelayan Kota Marina, Jalan Tok Pasai, and Kampung Tepi Laut.

"There was a slight rise of water at Pasar Nelayan Kota Marina and Kuala Kedah Ferry Terminal due to the high tide.

"There was an overflow at Taman Seri Putra too but floodwaters didn’t enter residents’ houses," she said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 12).

She, however, said a few houses on Jalan Tok Pasai were inundated with floodwaters during the incident.

She said several Civil Defence Force personnel from the district were dispatched to the location to monitor the water level around the area.

She said the water levels were recorded at 2.93m during the incident.
