JOHOR BARU: The remand period for the salesman and the Indonesian maid over the murder of a three-year-old in Taman Skudai here has been extended for six more days.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said that the remand period for both suspects have been extended starting Tuesday (Oct 11) until Sunday (Oct 16).

“This will make sure that the police are able to carry out a complete and thorough investigation on the case,” he said in a statement here on Monday (Oct 10) night.
Comm Kamarul Zaman urged the public not to speculate on the case as it is still under investigation.

The original remand period for the two suspects began last Tuesday and was supposed to end today.
They were arrested on Monday (Oct 3) to help with the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for the child’s death, as the body had shown signs of physical abuse.
The victim’s father, who works in Singapore, had entrusted the male suspect to look after his two children and paid him about RM2,800 a month.
The police were notified about the incident after the victim’s father lodged a report on Oct 2.
