GE15: Possible low voter turnout due to floods benefits Umno, says Mukhriz

PETALING JAYA: A low voter turnout for the impending 15th General Election due to floods in certain areas could work in Umno's favour, says Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir (pic).

"Umno is counting on voter turnout to be low due to impending floods in order to win the elections," said the Parti Pejuang Tanah Air president.

"Nevertheless, both Pejuang and Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) are prepared to work hard to win the hearts of the people in order to win enough seats to form the government," said the incumbent Jerlun MP.

"The decision by the Prime Minister proves he is under pressure from the Umno leadership to dissolve Parliament as it is a highly irresponsible thing to do," he added.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament with the consent of the King at 3pm on Monday (Oct 10), paving the way for GE15.
