GE15: Getting boats an important part of Gerakan's campaign plans

MELAKA: Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia plans to rent boats for campaigning and ferrying voters to polling stations in the state for the 15th General Election (GE15).

The party's state chief Datuk Seri Gan Peng Lam (pic) said an allocation would be made for the rental of boats.

"It's a pre-emptive measure for our election workers to carry out their responsibility during GE15," he said, adding that he predicted that nomination day would be at the end of October and polling day in the first week of November.

Gan was responding to the announcement made by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Monday that Parliament had been dissolved, paving the way for GE15.

He said Gerakan is vying to contest in an urban constituency.

However, he said certain areas in the constituency are often hit by floods during the wet season.

"Anyway, we prepare the boats so that our election campaign machinery is not impeded," he said.

The Melaka Legislative Assembly will not be dissolved as state polls were held recently on Nov 20, 2021.

Barisan Nasional won 21 of the 28 seats it contested, of which 18 were won by Umno, MCA (two) and MIC (one).
