KOTA KINABALU: Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel here cleared branches and debris that fell on three vehicles following a landslip near Inanam on Monday (Oct 10).

Authorities arrived at the location around 1.30pm after receiving a call about the incident at Kampung Kiranggu, said the APM in a statement.

It added that the main road to the village was also blocked, so the team cleared the branches and other debris before moving the vehicles to a safer location.

The APM said that a house with nine residents was also at risk as it was located close to where the landslide occurred.

It said that the operation ended at 6.30pm and the case has been forwarded to other agencies for further action.

Continuous rain and flooding also saw three districts in Sabah's west coast activating their temporary shelters to house victims.

Nine victims have been relocated to Kompleks Latihan dan Pemulihan OKU in Papar.

In Kudat, 250 victims made homeless by a fire at a water village here were also placed at the district rest house, said the state disaster management committee.

In a separate statement by the Fire and Rescue Department, four family members were rescued from a home in Penampang after they were trapped when water levels rose.

“They were taken to where their car was parked and were able to return to Kampung Tenghilan,” said a Fire and Rescue spokesman.
