Melaka cops call up man for allegedly sniffing glue while driving with child in car

MELAKA: A man is being investigated for reckless driving after a video went viral which allegedly shows him sniffing glue while driving with his wife and four-year-old daughter in the car.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the man and his wife were called up on Saturday (Oct 8) after the 17-second video went viral of the family driving around Ayer Keroh here.

He said the video was captured at 4.30pm on Friday (Oct 7) and was posted on Instagram.

ACP Christopher Patit said police initiated a probe and tracked down the couple to their house at Kampung Bukit Pegoh in Pernu.

"The couple was asked to go to the Melaka Tengah police traffic department.

"Urine tests on both of them were negative," he said on Sunday (Oct 9).

ACP Christopher Patit said the 33-year-old man is self-employed and his 23-year-old wife works as a restaurant helper.

He added that an investigation paper had been opened under the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
