Wanita Umno welcomes Budget 2023 which strengthens women's role

PETALING JAYA: Wanita Umno welcomes Budget 2023 which will strengthen the role of women in national development through the various initiatives undertaken, says its president Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.

The Budget presented by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz had given much importance to women, especially the formation of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Tribunal to counter cases of sexual harassment in the country.

"The setting-up of the One-Stop Social Support Centre completes the initiative by providing advocate, psychology and counselling services," said Noraini in a statement on Saturday (Oct 8).

"Wanita Umno also welcomes various economic initiatives through schemes such as Semarak-Nita BSN, Tekunita, Tekun, DanaNITA Mara and Biz Lady Bank Rakyat.

Noraini said these initiatives were a recognition that women were a primary mover of the country's productivity and economy.

She also thanked the Finance Minister for revealing that 100 public listed companies had 29% women, which was in-line with the 30% composition of women to be decision makers.

"The CahayaMata Keluarga Malaysia was a welcomed benefit which gives women who receive BKM benefit, to receive a one-off payment of RM500 in 2023, a recognition of the role of mothers in the country.
