HULU SELANGOR: A driver died following a multi-vehicle pile-up along the North-South Expressway here.
Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Suffian Abdullah said the incident occurred at around 3am near KM413.1 of the highway here.
"Three vehicles were involved in the accident which caused a 5km traffic jam that lasted for over two hours.
"Our investigations revealed that the accident occurred after a Mitsubishi trailer truck rammed into an Isuzu lorry.
"The impact caused the Isuzu lorry to then ram into the back of a Volvo trailer truck," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 7).
He said the 64-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi truck died at the scene while the drivers of the other lorries survived the accident.
"Traffic resumed as normal at around 5pm once the wrecked lorries were cleared.
"We have opened investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving," he said.
He urged anyone with information on the case to come forward and assist in investigations.
