Half-wooden house in Segamat razed in early morning fire

SEGAMAT: A half-concrete, half-wooden house was gutted in a fire at Kampung Sulir, Jabi, near here at 2.20am on Friday (Oct 7).

According to Segamat fire station chief Muhammad Hazim Abd Razak, 15 firemen from the station were deployed to the scene upon receiving a distress call.

He said a Fire Rapid Tender (FRT) vehicle, an Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) vehicle and a water tanker were used in the operation.

“The fire damaged about 95% of the house," Hazim said in a statement Friday.

He said the cause of the fire and the losses suffered were still under investigation.

The operation, led by senior officer Mazuki Osman, ended at 4.26am.
