100 areas in Johor face water cuts after power outage at Sungai Johor water treatment plant

JOHOR BARU: A power outage at the Sungai Johor water treatment plant has resulted in unscheduled water disruption in several areas around the state.

A total of 100 areas at Kota Tinggi, Tiram, Austin, Tebrau, Kempas, Skudai, Tampoi, Iskandar Puteri, Perling and Bukit Indah as well as Larkin were affected by the water cuts.

In a Facebook post, SAJ Ranhill said that there were damaged cables from incoming transformers at the water treatment plant.

"This has caused a temporary shutdown. At the moment, inspections are still being done by Tenaga Nasional Berhad and it will take some time," it said.

The water utility company also advised those affected to store enough water.

"Any information on the matter will be updated from time to time," it said.
