Man nabbed with ketum water, leaves in Taman Setapak


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 37 bottles of ketum water and 10kg of ketum leaves were seized following a raid on a house in Taman Setapak.

A 30-year-old man was also detained during the raid on Friday (Sept 30).

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the police raiding team also seized 600ml of codeine along with several equipment to produce ketum water.

"We believe he has been processing and selling ketum water since March.

"The suspect has been remanded until Tuesday (Oct 4) for further investigation," he said when contacted on Sunday (Oct 2).

The case is classified under Section 30(3) of the Poison Act 1952, he said.

"We will refer the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor once the investigation is complete," he added.

Supt Ashari thanked the public for giving information on illegal activities.
