Fear, confusion and anxiety overwhelming Opposition as GE15 nears, says Zahid

PETALING JAYA: Opposition parties are like "worms writhing in fire" after the Umno supreme council agreed for the 15th General Election (GE15) be held soon, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).

The Umno president said the situation was more apparent when it was announced that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was set to seek an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to present possible dates to dissolve Parliament.

"Fear, confusion and anxiety are overwhelming the Opposition as they will soon be answerable to the people during the polls.

"Hence, Umno has been their target, with them (Opposition) saying that we (Umno) do not respect the Federal Constitution," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Oct 2).

"Does presenting dates to the King constitute a rebellious act? Is this also not in line with the Federal Constitution?

"Our (Umno) actions are always based on the law and the Federal Constitution as we are not just a 'run-of-the-mill' political party," he said.

He also called for the Opposition to stop manipulating the situation as the people already knew the truth.

"Never in Malaysia's history has the Opposition ever come up with continuous excuses to delay elections.

"We believe that if they (Opposition) were confident enough to win, they would not delay for even a minute," he said.
