Intruder luring pupils with sweets

KOTA KINABALU: Police are on the hunt for a man who intruded twice into a primary school toilet earlier this week to offer sweets to a 10-year-old pupil.

The school authorities have lodged a police complaint against the unidentified man who broke into the school earlier this week.

The Year Four pupil, who does not know the suspect, refused to receive the sweets.

In the first trespass, he entered the school’s toilet on Monday where he offered sweets before running off .

The next day, a pupil spotted the suspect standing near the school’s staircase and immediately raised the alarm.

The suspect is believed to have fled towards the rear of the boy’s toilet and escaped.

Kota Kinabalu City police chief Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said yesterday that they have yet to identify the suspect as investigations are underway after the school authorities lodged the report with the Inanam police station.

“We have also increased patrols in the area,” he said.

Investigations are being carried out for criminal trespassing under Section 447 of the Penal Code, ACP Zaidi added.
