PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have roared to their ninth consecutive Super League title after their nearest challengers, Sabah, dropped points.

The Southern Tigers beat Negri Sembilan 5-0 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Saturday (Oct 1) to remain top of the league with 46 points from 18 games.

Young sensation Arif Aiman Hanapi was the toast with two goals in the 35th and 49th minute, and Brazilian Bergson Da Silva also followed suit with his own double in the 61st and 88th minute. Leandro Velasquez was the other goalscorer in the 38th minute.

Sabah could have postponed JDT’s title celebrations if they had beaten Terengganu, but the Rhinos lost 0-2 at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak.

After 19 games, Sabah have 36 points, which means they are 10 points behind JDT. Even if they win their last three games of the season, they have no chance of overtaking JDT.

JDT have won the Super League title since 2014, and this season, they have remained indomitable by winning 14 games and drawing four.
