Parliamentary Services Bill expected to be tabled in Parliament in November, says Rais


KUALA LUMPUR: The Parliamentary Services Bill is expected to be tabled at the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 14th Parliament in November.

Dewan Negara president Senator Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim said a special meeting on parliamentary transformation was held at the main Parliament building on Thursday (Sept 30).

"In the meeting, it was informed that the parliamentary transformation process is running smoothly. The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) and the Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) of the Prime Minister’s Department are preparing the draft of the Parliamentary Services Bill, which is monitored by the Parliamentary Transformation Committee from time to time.

"The Parliamentary Services Bill prepared includes amendments to the Houses of Parliament (Privileges and Powers) Act 1952 and the Code of Ethics for Members of Parliament,” he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 30).

Also present at the meeting were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, BHEUU director-general Datuk Abd Syukor Mahmood, their officers and representatives from the AGC. - Bernama
