Businessman abducted in Pandan Indah, later released

AMPANG: A 38-year-old businessman was abducted in front of a restaurant in Pandan Indah by a group of men in a white Toyota Vellfire.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the incident occurred at about 5.03pm on Thursday (Sept 29).

"The victim had gone to a restaurant alone when he was approached by a group of men.

"The victim was forced to go into the Vellfire and shouted for help to no avail," he said when contacted on Friday (Sept 30).

However, the victim was then released and had gone straight to the Ampang Jaya police headquarters at about 10.45pm on Thursday, he said.

"He suffered injuries on his face and legs. He was treated at Hospital Ampang. We believe the incident occurred due to an unpaid debt.

“The incident has since gone viral on WhatsApp and social media sites. We are still tracking down the suspects involved in the abduction," he said.

ACP Mohamad Farouk thanked the public who assisted the victim during the incident.

"We also advise the public not to take loans from unlicensed parties," he said.
