PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian roti canai, has been ranked the best street food by the Croation-based travel guide TasteAtlas.
TasteAtlas put the Malaysian staple at the top of the list of 50 street foods from around the world.
According to the list on Facebook, Filipino spring rolls 'lumpiang Shanghai' came in second place with Japanese garage and Vietnam's banh mee in third and fourth place respectively.
India's paratha, which was 'remodelled' into the local roti canai, interestingly ranked fifth on the list.
TasteAtlas is a project founded by journalist and entrepreneur Matija Babic and claims to be the encyclopedia of flavour and world atlas of traditional dishes and authentic restaurants.
The company has catalogued more than 10,000 foods and drinks and some 9,000 restaurants across the globe.
