Floods: More evacuees at three relief centres in Batu Pahat


JOHOR BARU: The number of people seeking shelter at the three temporary flood relief centres in Batu Pahat increases slightly as of 8pm Monday (Sept 26).

A Johor Civil Defence Force spokesman said there were 225 victims from 58 families compared with 222 people from 58 families at 4pm.

“The centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Peserai is providing shelter to 32 victims from 10 families from Kampung Bintang Peserai and Kampung Dalam.

“The Sekolah Agama Seri Bengkal centre has 84 victims from 25 families while the centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Buloh has 109 victims from 23 families,” said the spokesman in a statement.

He added that the victims at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Buloh were from Kampung Sungai Suloh, Kampung Sungai Buloh Besar and Kampung Patah Pedang.

The centre at Pusat Kokurikulum Johor, Sungai Tempayan in Pontian district closed at 6pm while the centre at Sekolah Agama Kayu Ara Pasong in the district was closed at 1pm.
