Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will lobby for support from other International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) member nations to be re-elected to its council for the sixth consecutive term since 2007, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Sept 25) that he had been briefed on the preparations by his ministry and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) for this.

"We will be having bilateral meetings on the sidelines throughout the general assembly to lobby for support," said Dr Wee, who is currently in Montreal, Canada for the ICAO General Assembly.

The General Assembly will be held from Sept 26 to Oct 7.

He added that he was greeted by Malaysia's High Commissioner to Canada Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman, CAAM chief executive officer Datuk Captain Chester Voo and Transport Ministry Aviation Division Undersecretary Mohamad Radzuan Mazlan upon his arrival.
