Zahid: Opposition delirious for taking credit for political stability

PETALING JAYA: The Opposition is delirious for claiming that political stability was established when the memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the government and them, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).

The Umno president said it was baffling to see the Opposition continuing to badmouth the government alongside attempting to reject motions brought up by the government in Parliament.

"They (Opposition) even rejected our offers to cooperate with the special task force formed to tackle inflation," he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Sept 24).

He said it was also unfair for the Opposition to harp on others' setbacks when they themselves failed during their own administration.

"The economy during the Barisan Nasional administration saw continuous growth, with aid also increasingly given to the people.

"When the Opposition came into power, they changed economic policies while also asking the people to sacrifice and even starve themselves.

"This shows there is only one option for the people, and that is to vote for a stable and strong government by voting for Barisan during the 15th general elections (GE15)," he said.

The Bagan Datuk MP also noted the global financial crisis in 2008, saying that Malaysia, who was under Barisan administration then, had weathered through the storm, with the country recording positive growth.

"We (Barisan) have done it before and we can do it again if the country faces another global economic slump, as predicted," he said.
