PETALING JAYA: An elderly couple suffered an anxious moment when the car they were in lost control and crashed into a 1.5m deep drain at Jalan Sungai Jai, Kg Sungai Jai, in Semenyih on Saturday (Sept 24).
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis told Sinar Harian that personnel from the Semennyih fire station were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 9.27am.
"The car carrying the elderly couple was travelling from Beranang to Sungai Jai when it crashed into the drain.
"Both victims were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firemen who arrived at the scene at 9.53am," Sinar Harian reported Norazam as saying in a statement Saturday.
He added that the victims, aged 72 and 70 years old, suffered light injuries.
"They were sent to the Kajang Hospital for a check-up and further treatment," he said.
