One teen dies, another injured after motorcycles collide near Batu Pahat


BATU PAHAT: A 14-year-old was killed while another teenager was injured after their motorcycles collided at Jalan Simpang Lima - Parit Sulong here.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said that the police received information about the incident from the public at about 1.35am on Friday (Sept 23).

"The accident involving two motorcycles happened in front of Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) Batu Pahat.

"One of the motorcycles was heading towards Simpang Lima from Parit Sulong.

"Another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction later skidded and collided with the first motorcycle," he said in a statement here on Friday (Oct 23).

He noted that both of the motorcyclists, who were 14 and 17 years old, respectively, did not have licences.

"The 14-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene while the other teen suffered some injuries," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
