Factory worker arrested for abusing seven-year-old son in Sg Petani

SUNGAI PETANI: A 29-year-old factory worker was arrested here for allegedly abusing his seven-year-old child.

Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Zaidy Che Hassan said the father of the victim was arrested after he confessed to beating the child with a rotan, broom stick and plastic holder.

"The boy was brought by his school's 52-year-old teacher after seeing swollen marks on his head and neck on Wednesday (Sept 21).

"According to the teacher, the boy was acting suspiciously by wearing a jacket in the class and upon checking, found marks on his body, arms and injuries on his lips, due to alleged beating.”

ACP Zaidy said the victim was admitted at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for further investigation.

The victim, the eldest son, is staying with his father and stepmother and just began schooling at the school here.

He was earlier being taken care of by his grandmother who was staying at Tanjung Dawai.

"The suspect said the boy was hyperactive and did not listen to him, and was beaten for two months.

"The case is investigated under Section 31(1) Child Act 2001," added ACP Zaidy.
