Woman alleges villager raped her adopted daughter in Tawau

KOTA KINABALU: A woman claimed her 14-year-old adopted daughter was raped by a man whom they were acquainted with for a long time in Sabah’s east coast Tawau district.

The woman lodged a police report on Sunday (Sept 18), claiming the incident took place at Kampung Atas Parit.

Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said that based on their probe, the suspect resided in the same village.

“The man had also known the girl for some time,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 20).

He added the girl has been sent to the Tawau hospital for a medical check-up.

“Further investigations are being carried out under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape,” said ACP Jasmin.
