Woman nabbed for plotting and setting up hubby's murder

KLANG: A 37-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly planning and arranging the murder of her 41-year-old husband.

According to a statement by Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed on Monday (Sept 19), the wife had divulged information about her accomplices involved in the murder after her arrest.

“Following that, an arrest was made of four local men aged between 20 and 36 years who have criminal records for various other offences.

“The Klang Magistrate's Court has granted a five-day remand order for all the suspects," he added.

He said the South Klang police headquarters received a call at 2.14am on Thursday (Sept 15) that a fight was going on involving several men.

The informer also told them a man was seen lying on the ground and covered in blood at the scene of the fracas, a single-storey house at Taman Aneka Baru in Sungai Udang here.

The man was later certified dead at the scene of the incident.

Comm Arjunaidi said early investigations were based on the wife’s statement that two knife-wielding men dressed in black and wearing masks had entered the front door and stabbed her husband to death.

A post-mortem found that the victim had been stabbed 14 times.

“The suspects were also said to have ransacked the house and taken branded handbags, jewellery and RM40,000 in cash before escaping in a luxury car.

“The total loss was estimated at about RM100,000,’’ said Comm Arjunaidi.

The Selangor police forensics team found various pieces of evidence while scouring the scene for clues, and a CCTV recording was found to help the investigation along.

Based on information gathered earlier in the day, a team from South Klang police headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Department arrested the woman at about 10pm the same day.

Further investigation revealed the wife’s suspected involvement in the murder.

Police managed to retrieve the branded handbags, jewellery and the getaway car after the men were picked up.

Comm Arjunaidi said revenge and personal interest are believed to be the motives behind the murder.

“Police are still carrying out the probe and will complete the investigation paper soon before referring the case to the DPP," he added.

Comm Arjunaidi urged anyone with information on the case to contact investigating officer ASP Saiful Azni at 03-33762222 or call any police station.

According to sources, the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder as well as relevant sections of the same code for armed and gang robbery.
