Lim will contest in GE15 after all, claims Hasni

PAGOH: DAP veteran leader Lim Kit Siang is making a u-turn and will contest in the 15th General Election (GE15), claims Johor Umno chief Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad.

He said the 81-year-old politician, however, would not be defending the Iskandar Puteri parliamentary seat.

“I received information that DAP, during their recent meeting, has decided that Lim will be contesting in GE15.

“However, he will instead be contesting in the Bakri parliamentary seat.

“This would make it easier for us to win back the seat from them,” said Hasni on Monday (Sept 19).

The Bakri seat was won by Yeo Bee Yin in GE14 after defeating Barisan Nasional’s Koh Choon Chai and Md Zahrul Salleh of PAS.

Earlier this year, Lim, who is a two-term Iskandar Puteri MP, announced that he was retiring and would not be contesting in GE15.
