All evacuees return home after floods in Bagan Serai recede

IPOH: The relief centre (PPS) at Dewan Gunung Semanggol was closed on Monday (Sept 19) after all the 12 flood evacuees there were allowed to return home.

Kerian District Disaster Management Committee chairman Mohd Sabli Bakri said the PPS was closed at 1pm, after the flood victims from three families in Kampung Tengah Bukit Semanggol, near Bagan Serai, returned to their homes as flood waters had subsided.

A heavy downpour which lasted several hours early Sunday (Sept 18) caused Kampung Tengah Bukit Semanggol to be flooded and residents to be evacuated to the PPS.

The flood water level reportedly reached less than a meter. - Bernama
