Vigneswaran says will continue Samy Vellu’s legacy

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC president Tan Sri M. Vigneswaran says that he will continue the fight of his predecessor Tun S. Samy Vellu for the Indian community and the nation as a whole.

“He had given much to the country as a minister and as an MP, thus his death is a big loss to the nation, especially to the Indian community. Because of him, the Indian community has progressed to where they are now.

“I feel very sad as he has always treated me as one of his family. As the MIC president, I will continue the fight that he has so valiantly fought all his life,” said an emotionally stricken Vigneswaran.

He was speaking to the media when met while he was paying respects to the late Samy at the latter's house in Taman Kaya here.

“We cannot forget what he has done. For me, he was a mentor and there is no other leader as great as him. I don’t know if I can ever compare to him,” Vigneswaran added.
