PAS will wait for Umno to decide on Muafakat Nasional

BUTTERWORTH : PAS will wait for the Umno supreme council meeting on the fate of Muafakat Nasional before making any decision on the collaboration between the two parties.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (pic) said they were not in any hurry on the matter as there was still a long way to go before the dissolution of Dewan Rakyat.

"It (dissolution) is not decided yet whether this year or next year," he said after attending the launch of an overhead line transmission project at The Light Hotel in Penang on Thursday (Sept 15).

Takiyuddin said discussions between the parties could happen at all levels as it was not dependent on the date of dissolution.

He also confirmed that there were currently discussions ongoing between the parties at the state and grassroots level.

Asked if PAS leadership would persuade Umno to revive Muafakat,Takiyuddin said no but reiterated the party's stand that PAS was willing to talk to any party including those in the Opposition.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who is Umno vice-president had said that any decision to end discussions with PAS would be decided by the Umno supreme council.

He said that it was Umno's practice to listen to the views of all party members on the matter.
