PAS, Umno urged to put egos aside and rekindle Muafakat pact

PETALING JAYA: Leaders from both Umno and PAS should put their egos aside and officially meet for discussions on Muafakat Nasional, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

The PAS vice president said leaders from both parties should focus on their similarities and strengths instead of squabbling.

“If we meet but continue to discuss our differences, we won't resolve anything.

“Both parties have cooperated before and I am confident it can be done again, especially if we look at the bigger picture of achieving harmony in our society,” he told a press conference after an event in Terengganu on Wednesday (Sept 14).

He added that efforts were being made to formalise discussions to rekindle the Muafakat cooperation.

“We shall see how it goes. We hope both parties can work to find common ground (once again),” he said.

Samsuri had been asked for his thoughts on Muafakat Nasional which was now three years old, having been formed on Sept 14, 2019.
