JOHOR BARU: Sunday (Sept 11) will be a special holiday for Johor to celebrate the Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football team winning the Malaysia FA Cup 2022.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar decreed this, says state secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani, adding that the declaration of the holiday was in line with the provision of powers conferred under Section 9(1) of the Public Holidays Act.

"As per the Sultan Ibrahim's decree, the state government has decided to make Sunday, Sept 11 as a special holiday for the whole of Johor to celebrate JDT winning the Malaysia FA Cup.

"The special holiday was to celebrate and show appreciation to all JDT's fans who have given their fullest support to the team to make the state proud," he said in a statement here on Saturday (Sept 10) night.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi congratulated JDT for being crowned champions.

"To celebrate this victory, the state government is glad to grant Sept 11 as a special occasional holiday for Johor," he said.
