13-year-old dies after lorry fails to avoid bicycle

KLANG: A secondary student died after a lorry failed to avoid him when turning into a road in Klang on Wednesday (Sept 7).

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao, in a statement Thursday (Sept 8), said that the incident occurred at 3.30pm Wednesday along Persiaran Hamzah Alang here.

"Investigations showed that the victim, who was on a bicycle, was turning into Jalan Persiaran Hamzah Alang and the lorry behind him failed to avoid him and crashed into him. The 13-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

"A post mortem will be conducted after the result of a Covid-19 test is confirmed," he said.

He added that as of now no arrests have been made and the lorry driver's statement had been recorded.
