Father of teen actress lodges report over claims he molested and beat her

PETALING JAYA: The father of a teenage actress has lodged a police report following allegations that he sexually harrassed and beat her.

City police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said the report was lodged at the Bandar Baharu police station in Kedah on Sunday (Sept 4).

"So far, no report has been received regarding the matter in Kuala Lumpur," he said when contacted on Monday (Sept 5).

The 15-year-old actress appeared as a guest on a YouTube programme recently to share her life story.

The teenager claimed that she and her mother would be beaten if they asked her father to teach them to recite the Quran.

She also claimed that her father molested her when she was a child, in addition to treating her mother badly.

It was reported that the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry was ready to summon a teenage artiste, who claimed to have been invited by her father to watch pornographic videos together, if a report is made.

Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun said no official report had been received as yet and she only learned of the matter from media reports.

"If it is true, we will call her and her father for investigation and will not hesitate to take strict action under the Child Act 2001," she told reporters on Sunday.

Commenting further, Rina said the public can help the ministry by coming forward to file a complaint, including to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
