ALOR SETAR: An invitation to the ongoing PAS muktamar here was sent to Kedah Umno but no response was received, claims the Islamist party.
Kedah PAS assistant secretary Zulkifli Yahya said the invitation was handed personally to Kedah Umno information chief Datuk Suraya Yaakob.
"When asked if she would attend, I did not receive any reply," claimed Zulkifli in a Facebook post on Saturday (Sept 3).
Kedah Umno chief Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom had claimed that no one in the state Umno received an invitation to the muktamar.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said in a press conference on Saturday that Umno leaders, including the president, supreme council members and Kedah committee were invited to the event.
The party has said that it is still open to discussion with Umno, but Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said there will not be any alliance with the Islamic party for the 15th General Election.
Both parties are in Muafakat Nasional, which was formed in 2019.
