Duo who stole smokes from 24-hour store nabbed – within 24 hours

KOTA TINGGI: Two men have been arrested less than a day after robbing a 24-hour convenience store in Bandar Tenggara near here of four packs of cigarettes.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the men walked into the outlet at 12.50am on Thursday (Sept 1) and tried to open the cash register but failed.

He said they then fled with four packs of cigarettes worth RM70.

“One of them had his face covered with a grey cloth while the other one wore a full-face helmet when entering the outlet.

“Initial investigation found both of them were involved in robbery cases in Kluang and Kota Tinggi areas," he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 2).

Supt Hussin said the men, in their 20s, were detained here by police about 22 hours after the crime, between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Thursday.
