Youth charged with girlfriend’s murder in Klang


KLANG: A 19-year-old youth has been charged at the Magistrate's Court with murdering his 24-year-old girlfriend on Tuesday (Aug 30).

Amirul Amin Amiruddin was accused of smothering Nurul Shahira Abdullah with a pillow at a house at Kampung Sri Pandan here on Aug 24.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which comes with the mandatory death penalty if found guilty.

The charge was read to Amirul Amin before Magistrate Noorjidah Mohd Jusan.

No plea was recorded and the court fixed Oct 26 for the case to be mentioned for the submission of relevant documents such as the post-mortem and DNA reports.

DPP Muhammad Hanis Zulkapli prosecuted while counsel Althea Suraya Rahmat appeared for the accused.

According to a statement issued by South Klang OCPD ACP Cha Hoong Fong after the accused's arrest, Amirul Amin had allegedly smothered his girlfriend after she wanted to call their relationship off.

The incident happened in the deceased's home at about 7.18pm.

He was arrested by police on the same day about two hours after committing the crime.
