'Wait', says PM on dissolution of Parliament


SERDANG: “Wait,” was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s brief response to questions on the dissolution of Parliament.

The premier said this to reporters as he was leaving the Community Development Department’s (Kemas) 60th anniversary assembly at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang on Sunday (Aug 28).

Budget 2023, which was initially scheduled to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 28, has been brought forward to Oct 7.

The change in date has fuelled speculation that Parliament will be dissolved and the 15th General Election (GE15) called this year.

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had called for GE15 to be held soon or Barisan Nasional risks losing.

At a special party briefing on Saturday (Aug 27), cries of "bubar!" (dissolve, referring to Parliament) from division-level leaders filled Dewan Merdeka at the World Trade Centre KL.
