KUALA KANGSAR: The names of potential Umno candidates for the 15th General Election have been received from all party divisions in Perak, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
The Perak Umno chairman said he received the names on Aug 15.
"Each division has recommended not just one name, but a few. We will bring them up to a panel in Kuala Lumpur to be discussed," he said after attending a tree-planting programme at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara Sultan Azlan Shah here on Friday (Aug 26).
"There are matters pertaining to the quota for Wanita, Youth and Puteri, so the candidate list has not been finalised yet," he said.
When asked if there would be any "parachute candidates" not from Perak, he said a clause in the party's constitution stated that names of candidates must come from its divisions.
"If the names don't come from the divisions, they will not be considered, so no parachute (candidates)," he said.
