Cops seize RM700,000 worth of drugs after Kepong arrest


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have seized more than RM700,000 worth of drugs after arresting a man in Kepong on Monday (Aug 22).

City police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said police arrested the 48-year-old man at around 10.45pm on Monday.

"We arrested the man along Jalan Vista Mutiara, Kepong, and found 1,000 ecstasy pills and 1,000 syabu pills on him.

"The suspect also tested positive for methamphetamines," he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 25).

He said the suspect then led police to a condominium unit at Jalan Perkasa 3, Bukit Jalil, at around 12.35am on Aug 23.

"We found 35,700 ecstasy pills and 1.04kg of syabu there.

"The drugs seized are estimated to be worth at least RM708,900," he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded for seven days.

Comm Azmi said the syndicate was believed to be active for at least four months.

"The suspect stored the drugs at the apartment unit and was believed to be distributing the drugs within the Klang Valley area.

"We have classified the case as drug trafficking," he said.
