Cops arrest two in connection with attempted snatch theft near KLCC


KUALA LUMPUR: Two men were detained in connection with a failed attempt to snatch a woman's handbag near KLCC.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the incident occurred at about 9.38pm on Sunday (Aug 21).

"The woman was rescued by passers-by. They managed to apprehend both men before handing them over to the police. The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 23).

ACP Noor Dellhan said the suspects - a local and a foreigner - have been remanded until Friday (Aug 26).

"We also seized two motorcycle helmets, a motorcycle and a set of keys," he said.

He urged those with any information on criminal activities to contact MERS 999, Dang Wangi police headquarters at 03-26002222, KL police hotline at 03-21159999 or any nearest police station.
