Najib says he is 'all alone' as trial looms, utters 'sumpah laknat' at mosque

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak has lamented that he is "all alone" in a heartfelt post on Facebook.

Najib, who will face his final appeal hearing at the Federal Court on Tuesday over the SRC International Sdn Bhd case, said he felt alone.

"Each person has a different path.

"We always pray and hope for the best in our lives.

"Sometimes, we feel our efforts and the good we have done goes to waste.

"Sometimes, we feel sad with tests and challenges, with slander and persecution, with hope that ends in failure, with sincerity that is rewarded with betrayal.

"And sometimes, we feel alone," said the former prime minister in his post on Sunday (Aug 21).

Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, who leads a five-member Federal Court bench, had set Aug 23 to 26 to hear the appeal.

The Court on Aug 17 had denied applications from the defence to adduce new evidence and to postpone the hearing, both of which were denied.

Najib's counsel then made an application on Aug 18 to discharge himself, which was also denied by the Apex Court.

On Aug 19, Hisyam told the court that his firm Hisyam Teh Poh Teik that Zaid Ibrahim Suflan TH Liew & Partners (ZIST) had been discharged by the appellant, Najib and he would not be making any more submissions to defend the Pekan MP.

Later on Sunday night, the former prime minister uttered a sumpah laknat (swearing in the face of divine retribution) at Masjid Kampung Baru, saying he was not aware if the RM42mil came directly or indirectly from SRC.

"I never listed or agreed to form SRC with the intention of syphoning whatever funds of SRC for my personal use or that of my family.

"I never directed any directors or officers of SRC to divert the company's money into my personal bank account for any reason," he said.

Najib also swore that he was not present during Cabinet meetings which approved a government guarantee for a RM4bil loan from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) to SRC.

Earlier, Najib thanked the congregation for their prayers which were being offered by those supporting him nationwide.

Among those present at the prayers was Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
