Man, 60, and girlfriend detained for allegedly abusing his disabled daughter

KUALA LUMPUR: A 60-year-old man and his girlfriend have been arrested for allegedly beating up the former’s disabled daughter.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 31-year-old victim, a disabled with nerve damage, was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance on Aug 20.

The ambulance was called by family members after she had fallen at home in Taman Sri Intan Ampang.

"The complainant, a medical officer from the Ampang Hospital, noticed suspicious multiple bruises to the right eye. It was believed that the wounds were due to being beaten and punched.

"At around 10.30pm the same day, the male suspect, who works as a labourer, and a 47-year-old woman were arrested.

"Items such as a broom, mop and hangers believed to have been used to abuse the victim were seized," he said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 21).

Both have been remanded until Aug 24.
